The excitement of the Ryder Cup seemed to spill on to the PA golf course this month with a number of exciting events taking place. The usual Match Play Championship was very well attended, and Tim Moores won the men's competitions, while Fiona Thomson won the ladies competition.

To celebrate the bi-annual Ryder Cup competition, the Club held its customary mini Ryder Cup. The USA took home the title, partly thanks to the organised leadership of Melaura Parker and her vice captains. The US team beat Europe by a comfortable ten points.

In other news, the annual Pink Day was a roaring success. Both the ladies and men got into the spirit of the day and we raised over €4500 for charity. Thanks to Shirley Griffiths for organising the day and ensuring it was a great success.

September was a very busy month on the golf course. On September 6th we played an enjoyable charity event at Laranjal, and the Match Play Championship took place between the 12th and 14th September.

The 17th September saw the much anticipated Ladies Invitation Day. We invited visitors from England, Quinta da Ria, Carvoeiro, Benamor and other places.

October is an even busier month we have to look forward to. In particular, everyone is excited about the annual Wooden Spoon competition between the men and the ladies, and the start of the Wainwright Trophy, which is a knockout competition taking place from October to March.
